Caeba
Caeba a.k.a. Carla Iannace is an Italo-Maltese selector based in London. As a Tonmeister student, she was partially placed at Gearbox Records, as a multidisciplinary helping hand, with an emphasis on the technical aspects of cutting vinyl, mastering and tape transcriptions. Having first come to Soho Radio via the Gearbox Kissaten show, which plays jazz to soul to hip hop, she now cultivates her sound and music fixation by channeling her infatuation for sentient, experimental and world music in her own show.
Although the latter genres nourish the groundline of her shows, Carla’s musical tastes extend beyond these, being multifaceted: she never limits herself to playing a narrow breadth of genres or styles, and her selection extends from the slowest of bpms to the highest of energies, spanning across almost the entire spectrum of world music. With a sensitive accent on dreamy rock, ambient, trip hop and folkloric soundscapes, her mixes entail a balanced cacophony of organic and electronic compositions, encompassing everything from the British / Celtic Isles, Maghreb or Saharan region to the Caribbean and Southern Asia.
Ever since she started travelling and working around Latin America (2022-23, 2025), she continually redirects her focus on genres like Brazilian Boogie and Samba (mainly Carioca or Baiana), Mexican, Peruvian or Colombian Cumbia, Salsa and much more, highlighting the African diaspora’s influence on Latin music in particular. Yet, ultimately, her aim is to champion tracks that have been created by undiscovered, underrepresented and young artists, particularly those from a diverse set of cultural backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations.
Another esteemed guest, Kristina Rhodes (, otherwise known as ‘KRiK’, has also taken over half of the show on a more regular basis; she is a multi-disciplinary creative and DJ based in London, working as a well-reputed bass & cello (session / tour) musician, cellist, sound engineer, costume designer and prop maker. KRiK takes inspiration from her mixed Ethiopian heritage and Western upbringing, blending all-embracing rhythms with contemporary energetic bass-driven music.
Over the course of a few months between 2021 and 2023, Carla invited Rory to take over the second half of her slot for a run of shows, as a collaborative mini-series. Despite a long interest in dance music, he took this opportunity on the radio to bring you a selection of non-club tracks every month. Expect ambient, leftfield & dream pop, trap and anything in between…
