Composers on Film with Gemma Dempsey feat. Mark Isham (10/02/2026)
This edition of Composers on Film includes a pre recorded interview with composer Mark Isham at his home studio in Hidden Hills Calabasas, just outside Los Angeles. A prolific film composer with Grammy and Emmy wins alongside Oscar & Golden Globe nominations, Mark is known for being an electronic innovator and jazz artist who fell in love with the trumpet at an early age. He educated himself in film scoring, transcribing music that he loved. A lifetime devotee of Wayne Shorter and Miles Davis, he was also influenced by Brian Eno who got him into the concept of looping. His film credits include A River Runs Through It, Judas and the Black Messiah, Crash and TV series such as The Godfather of Harlem. We’ll hear a selection of Mark’s favourite music alongside some of his film and TV scores including his jazz score for ‘Afterglow’ – recorded without picture, working with Marianne Faithful on the song ‘Trouble in Mind’ and being inspired by Moby’s use of samples for his score to ‘Crash’.
